2009 Tournament Schedule [Message #1]

Hey All,
Here is the 'finalized' schedule of tournaments for the 2009 season that will be of interest to Ontario golfers. As you can see, it includes ODSA Points Series events, OD Tour Events and Can-Am Series events (and the Whorleds). For the most part there are very few conflicts and this is a result of the hard work of the many disc golf stakeholders who attended the 2009 tournament planning meeting that took place on Jan 24th at Michael Sullivan's Toronto restaurant, as organized through the ODSA...THANKS to those who put forth the effort...the result is an AWESOME itinerary of events to choose from, with little conflict...the only conflict now will be figuring out which weekend NOT to play
Keep your radar ON for the individual announcements/flyers to be posted as details are firmed up. Also note that there are non-sanctioned/smaller/local/traditional type events, as well as league finals etc. NOT listed to choose from too.

DG in Ontario ROCKS!

I will periodically update this schedule as details become known.

Enjoy and have a GREAT disc golf season

Re: 2009 Tournament Schedule [Message #4]

Can I have a clarification on whether the winner in OPEN still gets a shot at USDGC? And if so, why is that person being picked less than a month before the tournament AGAIN? I just dont understand how someone in todays reality can book something like that on less than a months notice?

Re: 2009 Tournament Schedule [Message #8]

Well done!! Very helpful.

A couple questions

1) Is the Beachwood Open not part of the CAN-Am series this year?

2) I know more info will follow on each tourney, but what and where are the Chicopee tournaments?

Re: 2009 Tournament Schedule [Message #10]

I checked out NRDG.net and it appears as if the Beachwood is also going to be on July 4-5.

1) Not positive, but I would think Beachwood will continue on with Can-Am, I never heard anything about cancelling it,they want to make it bigger..like a A Tier maybe(soon)

2) Chicopee is the Kitchener/Waterloo course that was laid out last year I believe.

Another Question is why is there two tournaments on the Island? It just seeems like there are alot of cluttered months, I know I love disc golf as much as the next person to type here, but the economy sucks balls and is only gunna get worse before it gets better. I just dont see a very big turn out this year for the ODSA TOUR generally because of the number of tourny's and the number of people who cant afford to go.

I have a suggestion for the ODSA tour..... as an incentive and also because of the economy....

1. Give a 10 percent discount to those who attend more then one tourney ... for example the first time you play ODSA tour you pay full fee but all the others after get 10% discount... or 10.00 off their next game

2. Or give a 20.00 dollars discount to those who comes 3rd and 4rd at a OD tournement towards the next OD tour ... something like that ... I am sure we can find a way to get players to come with some kind of incentive that will help the OD and also the players ....

This is a new 18 hole course being installed in Kitchener (ODSA South-West Region) located on the ski hill of the same name which is not 10 minutes off the 401! There was a thread started on it in the Club House with links to WODS (Waterloo Association of Disc Sports)
